Volume 2
For the second time in Paris five of Belgrade’s fashion designers and two accessories designers presented their collections for Autumn/Winter 2009/10, at Rendez-vous tradeshow (www.rendez-vous-paris.com) in Espace Pierre Cardin, from 6 – 9. March, 2009.
Hello Tiger! the new 2009/10 Autumn/Winter collection is a tiny gem. Delicately hand made point lace pieces with embroidered and beaded tiger motifs are truly out of this world. This collection is a mix of vintage glamour and rock and roll chic. The ultimate post punk couture.
Collection Autumn/Winter 09/10 plays with the idea of tribal, raw and primitive ways of adornment. Clothes have architectural forms, ornamented with industrial metal parts, ropes and silicon molded charms using traditional Serbian embroidery techniques.
The Autumn/Winter 2009/10 collection has been inspired by architectural elements subtly adjusted to a womanly figure. The flexibility of form is accentuated with sub construction made of wire, sting and sponge.
The Autumn/Winter 2009/10 collection was inspired by merging of science, fantasy, symbols, sounds and images. The designs are styled within geometrical models and multi layered materials whose details emerge from existing forms. This collection is carrying the individuality searching for ways of fulfilling different material structures in a garment.
Aleksandar Protic
Black leather jacket of late 60´s and 70´s is a piece of wardrobe that became a part of defining some legendary artists and musicians, thus inspiring collection Autumn/Winter 2009/10 that continues direction of the work sensibility and atmosphere around Nico and Patty Smith.
This season his leather craft incorporated various graphic and contemporary forms.
Tribal & folk elements reminiscent of our origins is the basic inspiration for The Origins Autumn/Winter 2009/10, limited edition handbags. Different cultures, simple, classic & sophisticated; ornate & decorative, “dressing up” & adorning create a strong statement. The result is a play of contrasts: structured vs. soft lines; bold & provocative color vs. natural tones; asymmetrical yet balanced; traditional yet contemporary.
The latest collection Autumn/Winter 2009 was inspired by the atmosphere of bright contrasting colors, softness of materials and pure geometrical forms. The combination of these elements as a fashion detail – gloves – becomes more powerful and memorable. This collection was also shown at the CPD Düsseldorf in February 2009.

New energy
creative vision Done in Belgrade
At Rendez-vous fair in Paris (www.rendez-vous-paris.com) four of Belgrade’s best fashion designers
showed their collections together with two exclusive accessories designers,
joined in Serbia’s showroom at Musée du Jeu de Paume
The inspiration for the JSP
collection for spring/summer 2009 named “recyclique - recycle, cycle, clique”
is an exclusive group of people who share interests, views, purposes and
patterns of behavior or ethnicity.
Her collection spring/summer 2009 is inspired by men’s
tailoring.
Stiffness of a men’s suit is melted down by fluid forms and the use
of interesting fabric combination - silk charmeuse trousers with twisted
front pleats, tuxido jackets made of metal organza , wrap and twisted jersey
t-shirts and long wrap jumpers which look as if melting. the colors are
gentle and feminine – neutral off-white palette , fruity pinks and corals
and silver metalics. it is a cross between laid back-sports outfits and a
tom-boy style.
Martinovic mixes her love for vintage cuts
and long forgotten art of hand crocheting and point lace with her
Impeccable sense how to give it truly contemporary feel, so one gets the best
of both worlds.
She works exclusively with finest silks; leather and cotton tread for the
production of the lace. Every garment is hand crafted and finished. keeping in
mind that the some of the crochet peaces take up to 150 hours to make
entirely done by hand, explains why the designs will be produced and
distributed only in limited editions.
The high point of Slavna Martinovic’s collection is the very distinctive line
accessories. Keeping in spirits with her garments, the handbags, jewelry, belts
and shoes are all limited edition small art pieces.
The hand crafted crystal jewelry is reminiscent of the fifties. Clusters of
brightly colored luminous crystal twine together with tiny butterflies,
ladybugs, flies and lizards.
The bags are very sculptural, made in contrasting texture leather; fun to
wear they definitely are one of a kind chic.
ALEKSANDAR PROTIC
The starting point of his collection for
“rendez-vous” is the importance of the black leather jacket in the late 60´s
and 70´s as of a piece of wardrobe that defined , in a way, some artists and
musicians. The collection is built on the sensibility and atmosphere around
artists like Nico and Patty Smith. The materials used are mainly leather, silk
georgettes and chiffon and the colors are black, grays and nude.
The handbag is an unavoidable fashion accessory,
the perfect form uniting and satisfying the creative cravings, the inherent
beauty of ornamentation and utilitarian qualities.
“Looking towards excellence of craftsmanship, simplicity of form and
justifying the purity of traditional motive”.
Art of gloves — her gloves are made in an
old traditional way and are not mass produced. Leather is not cut out with a
cutting die, but by hand, whereby care is taken that both gloves are cut from
a single trank. The leather used for gloves is high-quality kid or lambskin
with the right amount of strech.
These gloves differ from mass produced gloves not only by the quality
of their production but also by their design. They are made either as a
unique pair or as limited designer series.
